Things to do at home
Voluntary homelessness for me means packing a small suitcase with jeans, sweaters, boots, and three or four soul-nurturing books. I’m not going to live in the park or in my car. But I am going to experiment with my life, live close to my granddaughter, and see what happens. Vacating the space that has held my hopes for so long, I’m going to transform those hopes into a more solid reality than a physical home could ever be.
A bumper sticker tells me, IF YOU LIVED IN YOUR HEART, YOU’D BE HOME NOW. I believe that. With the wings of the Almighty as shelter, I am taking flight, rising above what I thought I wanted, to a brand-new vision of home.
Light at home
Notice the identification numbers near the end of the fluorescent tube. They’ll help you select replacement tubes. If cool-white fluorescent light seems harsh for your eyes, try warm-white or pink tubes.
If the new tube still flickers, replace the starter. This is a small metallic device that fits into the fixture near the end of the tubes. The starter may be inside the fixture housing. However, not all fluorescent fixtures use starters. Some have a special transformer. The only way to find out is to look.
If installing a new starter and/or new tube doesn’t correct your fluorescent light problems, or if the light develops a loud hum, call your electrician.
Do the repair
Fluorescent fixtures improve the lighting in your mobile home and save you money as well. You get more light with less electricity consumption than with incandescent fixtures. But whenever fluorescent bulbs start to flicker, it’s time for replacement or repair. The flicker fatigues your eyes badly.
To remove a fluorescent tube from a fixture of the slotted variety, give the tube a quarter-turn in the slot and pull downward. With a spring-loaded fixture, push the tube toward one end, free the opposite end, and then remove the tube. Be careful not to drop the tube. Its glass and the internal gases are toxic.
A few electrical reminder
Turn off power at the main breaker. Remove the cover from the breaker panel with your screwdriver. The breaker switches are held in place by screws. Loosen the screw and pull the damaged switch outward. Remove the wire from the terminal on the old switch, and fasten it to the new switch.
Slide the new switch onto the buss prong in the empty slot, and just snap it into line. The breaker switch must fit flat and tight. If it doesn’t, pull it out of the panel and snap it in again. Once you’ve positioned the switch, lock it with the screw. Replace the box cover and set all the breakers On. Turn on the Main breaker or switch. (Reset your clocks.)
SPECIAL GIFT
My mother in law gave me different kinds of expensive curtains as her gift for me for my birthday. We both have the same taste in choosing colors and style when it comes to curtains and other home accessories. I am not really expecting that she will give me a very expensive stuff. I am so close with my mother in-law and we treat each other more than like real mother and daughter. Being an additional member of a family is not that easy. We need to remember that it will take time to be accepted in the family. Problems with in-laws are inevitable especially so when they simply meddle in the couple’s parochial problems. The best way is to know the emotional state, social needs, physical problems or worries. Knowing them better would lead to better understanding of their attitudes towards you. We need to remember that developing resentment would only widen the gap between the families. We need to learn to accept our in-laws feelings in order for us to be able to understand them. I am so lucky that I am well accepted by my husband’s parents and families right away. I will always be thankful for all their efforts and help to me and my husband.
SUGESSTIONS
My friend last night asked me about opinions regarding what she has to change or renovate within her house. She showed me around and asked me to look at every corner of the house. She has a great house, which is why I wondered why she even needed to renovate or conduct home improvement. Her house was a two storey house, the first level was consist of her kitchen, dining area, living and receiving area and a bathroom at the end of the hallway. And her second floor was all about the rooms of the house, the house has 4 rooms, 1 for master’s bedroom, 1 for her sons room, 1 is for the maidens’ room and the 4th room is left for their guest room. The masters’ room has its own bathroom and another bathroom that is being use for the whole house. She wanted to change the setting of her house, in terms of the lighting and repositioning of all the furniture that she has in their living area. I gave her some sort of advice and I suggest that she better ask the help of an expert like an interior decorator so that she will be directed properly about her plans.
